Saturday 12 April
17.00 - Hotel Brufani, Piazza Italia 12, Perugia
The
Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, New York, a world leader in the training of journalists for over 100 years and organiser of the prestigious annual Pulitzer Prizes, invites prospective students and any interested others to an open session.
The open session will offer students the opportunity to get to know the school first hand - its admission procedures, its courses and what it offers in terms of career prospects post graduation. The event will be coordinated by
Evan Cornog, associate dean for academic affairs at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism and publisher of the bi-monthly
Columbia Journalism Review.
Columbia’s master’s programs provide journalists with a unique opportunity to hone and deepen their journalistic abilities at any point in their careers. Our mission is to give students the tools that will help them over the long term as journalists. These include intensive individual coaching in writing and reporting provided by the nationally renowned journalists on our faculty. They train students in journalistic techniques, familiarize them with all forms of journalistic media, teach them the history of our profession and introduce them to the substance of complicated subjects that can’t be understood through simple intuition.
The event will be divided in two parts – a presentation of the journalism school of about 30-40 minutes to be followed by an informal mix and mingle session. Alumni of the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism who live and work in Italy, together with students currently studying at the school, will be on hand to provide their personal perspective on the education this historic institution provides. Drinks and nibblies will be served.
